How to change the parting line on my wig

Although a wig may come with free parting (a changeable parting line), it may also come prestyled with a hair part already! For example, most of our male wigs come prestyled with part on the left. This means that in order to change the hair part, heat must be applied to loosen the previous styling and shape a new parting line. Without doing so, the hair will spring back to its original shape. All you need to style your new part is a comb, some hair clips or pins, and a blowdryer with its heat setting on.

1. Draw a new parting line in the wig with your finger or the end of your comb. (Make sure to place your parting line on the hand-tied lace at the top of the wig and not on the tracks).
2. Place hair clips on both sides of the new hair part to keep the hair from bouncing back into its original shape. 
3. Use a blowdryer with the heat setting on and apply heat to both the hair part and the redirected hair
4. Once the redirected hair is sufficiently warmed up, you can remove the hair clip holding it in place and comb the hair while you continue to blowdry. The hair will still attempt to bounce back, but it’ll be more pliable and slower to return to its original shape when warm. (You can also use a round brush for better grip on the hair). Be cautious not to burn yourself as the hair can be quite hot. 
5. The style won’t be set until the hair fibers are cool to the touch. Hold the hair with a comb or with your hand (if the fibers are cool enough to handle), as it cools to lock in the new shape. We use a paper fan to speed up the cooling.

Note:

1. If styling a human hair wig, we recommend using heat protectant to prep your wig, and applying hair serum after styling. Heat protectant will help protect your hair fibers from heat damage while the serum will give your wig a neater finish.

2. If stying a synthetic wig, confirm beforehand that your wig is heat resistant. Most Her wig closet wigs are heat resistant up to 250 degrees fahrenheit.
