Summer Comfort: Tips on Styling Wigs for Warmer Days ☀️🏖️🍹
As we enter the hotter months ahead, we start receiving more questions on how to keep cool while wearing a wig. The easiest solution would be to wear a short wig since you wouldn’t have hair lying on your neck and back. But for those of you who prefer longer locks, our suggestion would be to style your hair so that it has the same effect as wearing a shorter wig. So let's get into it! Here are some wig friendly summer styles to try out yourself.
Note: we recommend using a lace front wig for each of these styles as you'll be pulling your hair back from your hairline. A lace front is the best option for a natural appearance, but a wig with bangs will also be acceptable if you leave face framing pieces at the front.
Wrapped Ponytail
A wrapped ponytail adds flair to the classic low pony while also keeping your wig tracks hidden. We recommend a medium to long length wig for this look as a short wig will be difficult to secure into a ponytail. (And it’s even more difficult for synthetic wigs due to its added bulk compared to human hair). A wavy texture doesn’t hurt either if you’d like to add a bit more elegance to your look.
Faux Fishtail
Faux fishtails can work well with both medium and short length wigs. No braiding knowledge needed. Although you could use a longer wig for this style as well, it might be cumbersome for longer lengths since each “plait” is tied off individually.
Claw Clip Low Bun
Claw clips buns are a trendy take on a classic look. AND they’re even easier to style. We recommend using at least a medium-length wig without a lot of bulk. This will make it easier to fit your hair into the claw clip, and keep your bun from being too heavy on the back of your wig.
French Bubble Braid
French bubble braids are a little more technical than the other styles on this list, but worth the effort! We recommend using either a straight wig, or a wig with loose waves as a curlier texture will affect the “bubble” appearance.
